Our Story
When we met
Serendipitously introduced by a mutual friend just a few days before Christmas, we didn't even know what a gift we had been given.
Our first date
Over dinner at Lyla Lila, we discovered a shared love of live music — and something even more uncanny: we had crossed paths in the same rooms, at the same shows and events, for years without ever meeting. It felt less like coincidence and more like the universe had simply been patient, waiting for the right moment to introduce us properly.
Shortly after
For our second date, Miles cooked. By the end of the evening, it felt less like a second date and more like coming home — like we were already family.
Building a life together
What began as two lives slowly became one. We made a home together — blending our families, our rhythms, and our boys — five of them in all. Between youth sports and family dinners, we carved out a life that felt full in every sense. And whenever we could, we explored the world together: Italy, Mexico, Watersound, the British Virgin Islands, and more. Every trip a new chapter, all of us together.
The engagement · Rome, Italy
During one of those family trips, the boys stayed back at the hotel to take a break from pasta and pizza — and Ellie and Miles had a moment alone. Walking to dinner through the ancient city, they found themselves crossing the picturesque Ponte Cestio, the Tiber moving quietly below. Miles stopped to pause — and in that perfect, unhurried moment, asked Ellie to marry him.
